I graduated as an architect from the University of Oulu in 2009. I have been an entrepreneur, a self-employed designer ever since. I haven't really chosen or left out certain design tasks, instead I've accepted almost all the projects offered. In the early years I learned a lot not only about construction, but also about the fact that people value architecture from different perspectives and for different reasons. This experience has grown and developed my own vision of architecture a lot, and I sense that the definition of good architecture is not black and white.
Nowadays, I rarely get excited about new buildings in the same way as I do about old historical buildings. Old buildings have patina that cannot be built - it is to be born as time goes by, it has value. Unfortunately, the patina is often destroyed when a building is renovated to be as new.
I like designing new buildings too, but the restoration and renovation design excites me in a very special way. This passion has even got me to own an old house and repair it by myself respecting the tradition.
I design creatively new. I renovate respecting the old.
